The more I learn, the more I understand that we truly are what we eat. I believe that how we choose to nourish our bodies, along with our lifestyle choices can have a profound impact on our health, reversing and even curing some chronic illnesses.
Research shows that a whole-foods, plant-based diet is the key to promoting health and reversing illness. It’s not only good for our health, but it’s better for the planet. In 2010, the United Nations urged a move toward a plant-based diet to save the world from hunger, fuel poverty and the impact of climate change.
I’m not a medical professional. I’m a plant-based advocate, nutrition writer and food illustrator, sharing my personal discoveries and hoping to create a supportive community. The information I share is not meant to replace the advice of medical professionals. However, it has been my experience that they often leave nutrition out of the picture. This is a sad fact, because it can make all the difference to someone struggling to help their body heal from illness or disease.
When you’re dealing with chronic illness, as so many are these days with diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease on the rise, you can feel a loss of control and a feeling of helplessness. How we nourish ourselves through illness is something that is completely within our control and, aside from the physical benefits, it can give us back some much needed energy and optimism.
Foodplanetyou.com is about creating sustainable health for us and for our environment. I hope you find something here that helps you in your journey. I welcome your comments and suggestions.
